Wader Pool Filter

The process of backwashing the wader pool filter is similar to the main pool filter with one main exception. The wader pool does not have 2 separate meters - it only has one. In this case, we need to determine the starting PSI reading. If you're not sure of what the starting PSI reading was, then take note of where the needle is after you backwash the filter. This number is your starting reading.

  1. Turn off the pump using the light switch next to the controller for the wader pool

  2. Close the main drain and skimmer valves. These valves are called Jandy valves. They are closed when the handle is parallel with the pipe. This is backwards from other valves where they are closed when the handle is perpendicular to the pipe.

  3. Open the lid to the pump, remove the basket, and dispose of as much debris as possible from the basket

  4. Return the basket to the pump and reattach the lid

  5. Return your valves back to the original position

  6. Rotate the valve on top of the filter to the "backwash" position

  7. Turn on the pump and watch the eye glass on the backside of the waste pipe

  8. Once the eye glass goes clear, you can turn off the pump

  9. Rotate the valve on top of the filter to the "rinse" position

  10. Turn on the pump and let it run for 30 seconds to 1 minute

  11. Turn off the pump

  12. Rotate the valve on top of the filter back to the "filter" position

  13. Turn on the pump

  14. Refill the wader pool if necessary.
